England was just too good for Australia on Saturday when they beat them 32-15 at the end after leading 16-12 at halftime. I dod believe we had the same headline last week when the Aussies played Scotland.

This was really England’s first real test in this autumn series and they had to work a bit for it but eventually showed that they are a bit better than the current Aussie side, specially at home.

Australia never really let go and came back nicely but one has to feel that their ill-discipline has been a problem on this tour and on Saturday yet again cost them dearly. This was an eight straight win for England over Australia as they started the match pretty good with some attacking rugby.

They got their first try of the match when Freddie Steward sliced through the Aussies defence in the 6th minute to open the scoring. It was O’Conner’s boot that kept Australia in the game and just after halftime England only led 16-15.

The game was really scrappy at times in that second half but England kept clicking over the scoreboard with penalties before Jamie Blamire got over for the home side.

England pack played well enough with some nice go forward ball and giving great ball to the backs. England’s new sensation, Marcus Smith controlled the game well and founded holes in the Aussie defence on a regular base.

He still have plenty to learn and was founded out a few times by the Aussies but man is he a future star for England. This was a good win for England as they prepare to welcome the world champions to their back yard next week.

Australia did not manage to get any tries in the game which is a great complement to Englands defensive effort on the night. This will give them great confidence going into the Springbok test match.

Scorers:

England: Tries – Steward, Blamire Conversions – Farrell, Smith Penalties – Farrell(5) Smith

Australia: Penalties – O’Conner(5)
