Champions Cup – Racing 92 outclass Saints


Lauret scored a hat-trick on Friday which helped his side to an impressive win over Northampton Saints. Scoring fice tries against two of their host, Racing ended up with a 45-14 bonus point win in their opening round of the new season.

Juan Imhoff also scored twice for the visitors with Machenaud kicking 20 points on the night.

The Sainst struggled to get into the game and was on teh backfoot early on in the match. A few penalties gave thevisitors the lead before Lauret scored his first try of the match with Finn Russell showing his class in the lead up. The Sainst did hit back with a try from Skosan but Inhoff try in the 36 minute counter that again.

The second half was all Racing as they got another try through Lauret, again from teh brilliance of Russell

Sainst got their second try with Dingwall getting over in the 47 minute of the match but Lauret got over a few minutes later for his hat-trick try.

At the end teh Saints was just not good enough on the night against a classy Racing side and will now look forward for their second round match against Ulster next weekend.

Racing will host Ospreys next week hoping they can get back-to-back wins to start the competition.
