    Six Nations Italy v France (Result)



    France put 50 points past Italy on Saturday in Rome when they opening their Guinness Six Nations campaign. It was easy pickings really for France, with Italy defence not up to the speed from the French at the back.

    As expected, Italy struggled against the French and as soon as they started to play with ball in hand they got over the advantage line and score tries.

    At the break France were already in a commanding lead with 24-3 scoring three first half tries. Italy was only able to get a penalty over in the first forty.

    They were unlucky having their first half try disallowed after the TMO picked up a forward pass in the build-up.

    Italy struggle to keep their defensive lines and France found it easy picking at times to get over the advantage line. Their first try came from Dylan Cretin to get the scoreboard ticking over.

    A penalty from Matthieu Jalibert stretches their lead to 10-0 after just 10 minutes before Paolo Garbisi opened Italy scoring with a penalty.

    France scored two more tries before the break through Gael Fickou and Arthur Vincent. Matthieu Jalibert converted both to give the visitors a 24-3 lead at halftime.

    Italy started better in the second half putting France under pressure but just could not hold on to the ball in the French red zone.

    Italy defence at the back was again exposed when Brice Dulin got his hands on a kick down field to score France bonus point try.

    From a line out the French got the ball out to the backs and an inside pass to Dupont saw him go over for another French try stretching the lead to 38-3

    Italy almost disappear really with France scoring two quick tries, first from Dupont and then Teddy Thomas which took their lead to 45-3 with still 20 minutes to go.

    Italy finally got some hands on ball and with a kick forward from Luca Sperandio, he re-gathered the ball and ran over for Italy first try of the match.

    France hit the 50 mark with another try by winger Thomas after he side-stepped his way pass the Italian defence.

    That was the last score of the match giving France the bonus point win in the opening weekend of the 2021 Six Nations.

    1. Some more urgency from Italy but still making silly mistakes when they get into the French twenty two
