Former Springbok and Stormers lock Andries Bekker has announced his retirement following the conclusion of the Japanese club season.

Bekker confirmed his retirement after the Kobelco Steelers’ final game of the season, when they beat Toshiba Brave Lupus in the fifth-place playoff on Saturday.

Bekker made his debut for the Springboks in 2008 against Wales in Bloemfontein and earned 29 Test caps. The 34-year-old left the Stormers in 2013 to join the Steelers.

  1. Huge unit with unrealized potential.
SARU can chalk up YET ANOTHER…..
With their mgt of Mr Bekker.
You can set an atomic clock to SARU incompetence.
A purge is needed along with lengthy prison sentences for this malfeasance.
