Blue Bulls secure home semi-final with win over Pumas

The Blue Bulls have secure a home semi-final against Western Province next week after beating the Pumas in Nelspruit 25-24

The Pumas open the scoring early in the game to surprise the men from Pretoria. But the Bulls hit back less than 10 minutes later when Deon Stegman finished off a rolling maul after the Bulls had won their own lineout from close range – Tian Schoeman striking the upright with his conversion attempt.

The Blue Bulls had a the ability to keep the Pumas out for most of the game and kept the distance on the scoreboard and kept the board ticking over when it was needed.

It was a great preparation for the Blue Bulls before hosting for Province next week. It will be a different team that they beat earlier this in the Currie Cup.

The Pumas did end the game and the season with the same passion as what we used to when they play at home as they scored a late consolation try after the hooter through lock Rudi Mathee to make it a 25-24 final score.

  1. Wow… on this performance the LIONS might as well be given the CC now to save everyone the embarassment of losing by 60 in a CC final…

    That sucked…

The Pumas were seriously up for it and Marnus Schoeman must be one of the most hard working and underrated loose forwards in South Africa.

It is a crying shame he has never scored an SR contract. One of the players I hope scores a Paris contract or a Tokyo one… he will never disgrace any jjersey he wears.

  2. @DavidS: He works hard. Pumas boys have been raided for next season. A few could be playing SR from what I hear. This will be a crazy 2016 season.

  3. True Dawie but then there has been teams that has been as dominant in the season, just to.lose in the final. Lions are better than all in cc this year, just hope they can finally carry curriecup form into superrugby
