Carling Currie Cup – Plenty of changes to Province team to face Pumas


DHL Western Province coach Dobson has made seven changes to his side who will face the Pumas on Friday night.

Three of the changes has been injury-enforced after the Lions match last weekend in Johannesburg.

With Nel, Senatla and Augutus out for this weekend match, Dobson included Leyds, Haznar and Coetzee in his starting XV.

Leyds will slot in on the wing inplace of Senatla with Haznar getting his chance in the midfield in place of the injured Nel. He will join Rikus Pretorius in the midfield as a new combination for Province on Friday.

At nine we also see Paul de Wet getting a start Springbok Jantjies on the bench.

In the pack Coetzee will get the number eight jumper with Meihuizen coming in at lock and Ntubeni also starting at hooker for this one.

DHL Western Province John Dobson said that his team are looking forward to playing at DHL Newlands again on Friday evening.

“It is a short week for us and we can’t wait to get out there at DHL Newlands and put together an 80-minute performance.

“We are looking forward to seeing what the players coming in can add as we target an accurate display on Friday,” he said.

Province are yet to record a win in the Currie Cup this season and will have to get that ‘W” if they want to stay in the race for a playoff spot.
