There seems to be a lot of confusing surrounding the future of Pieter Steph du Toit at the moment.
The 21-day window closed on Thursday night for players and coaches to opt out of their current contracts with their unions. It now seems that Pieter Steph du Toit did in fact took that option, Netwerk24
Sport24 since has confirm that he did in fact opted out of his current contract. They also reported that although he used the exit clause he remains keen on staying with WP Rugby.
I believe here may be some clever thinking behind this move. His current contract is no longer standing so he can negotiate a new contract which maybe keep him in Cape Town and South Africa.
The Daily Maverick, also reported that Du Toit’s agent Gerrie Swart denied that his client was moving.
“Pieter-Steph is staying at Western Province; there is just some paperwork to finalise and there may be one or two sticking points there,” Swart said.
We will have to wait for WP Rugby to make the official announcement which they have not done since the deadline date. It is expected to be announced on Saturday from the Union
