Crusaders sign Rene Ranger and Josh McKay

With Super Rugby Aotearoa kicking off on the 26 February teams are starting their pre-season and putting together their squads for the second version of the all New Zealand Super Rugby competition.

The champions, Crusaders have sign former All Black Rene Ranger after they have some injury concern to their star wingers.

Both George Bridge and Manasa Mataele will be out for a few weeks after the start of the competition.

Ranger last played in Super rugby for the Sunwolves in 2019 before joining the Colorado Raptors in the Major League Rugby last year.

After the cancellation of the MLR he returned to New Zealand and played for Northland in the Mitre 10 Cup.

Ranger can play both on the wing and midfield and with his experience will add value to the Crusaders team this season.

Josh McKay who’s contract was not renewed by the Highlanders also got a lifeline from the Crusaders. Long term injury to Braydon Ennor has opened the door for McKay to return to Super Rugby.

McKay can play fullback and wing and is regarded as one of the fastest player in the country.

The Crusaders will kick-off their Super Rugby Aotearoa campaign against the Highlanders on the 26 February.
