With the Southern Hemisphere in hibernation at the moment the Kings and Cheetahs are in the middle of their PRO14 campaign.

The Southern Kings will be departing for Edinburgh after a three week break to take on Edinburgh.

The game will be on Saturday at 19:35.

We are happy to be back in action after a good end-year break which came at a good time for the team to recuperate and return rejuvenated for the New Year,” said head coach Deon Davids.

Davids have named a 25-man squad which includes Sarel Pretorius who will make his debut for the side.

We should also see an improvement at the set pieces with Kempson joining the coaching staff as an consultant.

The Southern Kings touring squad is:

Forwards: Nicolaas Oosthuizen, Alulutho Tshakweni, Pieter Scholtz, Luvuyo Pupuma, Tango Balekile, Alandre van Rooyen, Michael Willemse, Lubabalo Mtyanda, Stephan Greeff, John-Charles Astle, Andries van Schalkwyk, Cyril-John Velleman, Martinus Burger, Lerm Ruaan

Backs: Stefan Ungerer, Rudi van Rooyen, Sarel Pretorius, Martin du Toit, Ntabeni Dukisa, Tertius Kruger, Harlon Klaasen, Berton Klaasen, Yaw Penxe, Michael Makase, Masixole Banda

  1. Have to say, sad that the team representing the so called “hotbed” of black rugby talent in SA cannot even muster close to 50% black players in their squad.
