    It was a final penalty from Ryan Lonergan gave the Brumbies a great win on Saturday against the Rebels to secure their record at home.

    It was a monster of a kick by Lonergan that got the whole stadium on their feet as the Brumbies won the game 27-24.

    Matt To’omua  was again brilliant with the boot and kept the Rebels in the match throughout. Just as it looked like the Brumbies will pull away To’omua kicked the Rebels straight back in it.

    He was also the first to put points in the board before Lolesio levelled it again with a penalty off is own.

    To’omua added two more penalty to give the Rebels a 9-3 lead before Len Ikitau got over for the first try of the match. Lolesio chipped a kick through for Ikitau to dot it down.

    The Brumbies then loss their captain with a red card after a high tackle with force to the head. Referee Murphy had no real option then to send the captain packing.

    To’omua kicked another penalty to make it 12-10 for the Rebels.

    The Brumbies with only 14 men put huge pressure on the Rebels in the beginning of the second half which saw them getting a penalty try and yellow card for James Hanson.

    This gave the Brumbies a 17-12 lead and it was 14 men against 14 for the next ten minutes.

    To’omua with another penalty got the Rebels within two points of the Brumbies. It did not took long for To’omua to put the Rebels in the lead with another penalty.

    The referee then send Andy Muirhead to the bin as he lost patience for repeated infringement from the home side.

    To’omua then took the lead to 21-17 for the Rebels. It as here where the true class of the Brumbies came through. Under pressure and the score a vital try from Banks. It came from a brilliant flick pass by Lonergan who saw Banks cut through the Rebels defence.

    This gave the Brumbies a 24-21 lead but To’omua slotted another penalty to even things up again at 24-all.

    It was here where Lonergan stepped up to sink massive kick to secure the Brumbies the win.
