Champions Cup – Toulon v Sale

Under their new coach Paul Deacon Sale Sharks suffered their first defeat at the hands of Toulon in Saturdays first round of the Heineken Champions Cup.

Sale were able to keep Toulon at bay at first but after 20 minutes their defence just could not withstand Toulon on attack and Villiere got over for the first try of the match.

Louis Carbonal was impressive for Toulon scoring 16 points in the match.

The first points in the match came from a penalty by Carbonal. He added another before the first try was scored by Villiere after chip over the Sale defence to send the wing over.

Carbonel added six more penalties as Sale kept on giving away penalties through ill discipline. Another great offload saw Moyano going over for another try.

Sale did come back at the end with a try by Yarde before the last try came from a clever pass by De Klerk who send Phillips over for the Sharks.
