It was not pretty but an injury time try by Steven Kitshoff secured Western Province first bonus point and win in this years Currie Cup.
In a must win game for the men from Cape Town, they eventually beat the Pumas 28-14 but again one of those games that was hard to watch.
At the end Western Province outscored the Pumas with four tries to one after leading 8-5 at the break.
The Pumas was first to put points on the board with a try from Elrich Cronje.
Province had to sub Swiel early in the game due to a head injury which gave the young Kade Wolhuter a chance to show his abilities.
He also kicked the first points for Province before Ntubeni scored their first of his two tries in the match to give the host a the lead.
Province did not dominated the scrums as they would have wanted after Frans Malherbe withdrew from the side just before the start of the match.
This gave Lee-Marvin Mazibuko an opportunity and on the night we thought he did well jumping in the starting XV.
The second half was a much better start for the home side with Angelo Davids dancing his way through the Pumas defence close to the line.
Province got their third try shortly after when Ntubeni got his second try after another forward drive.
Wolhuter kicked a penalty to keep the scoreboard ticking over for Province but the Pumas never gave up. Western Province were giving away plenty of penalties which gave the visitors the opportunity to get into their half. Williams kept his side in the match with three penalties.
Springbok Jantjies was shown a yellow card with 10 minutes to go which put Province under a lot of pressure but luckily for the home side they were able to forced a few penalties to get into the Pumas twenty two.
After a few attempts at the line Kitshoff final got over the line after a sneaky pass by Kolisi.
This gave Province their first win in the Currie and a bonus point which was desperately needed.
