The Lions had a late burst against the Elephants which gave them a score that flatter them a bit.
With the Elephants playing with 13 men for most of the game, the Lions struggled at times to keep ball in hand. They eventually got a 52-24 win over the men from PE but it was not pretty.
They score 8 tries against the 4 form the Elephants at the end. Both sides were guilty in giving away plenty of penalties. The first half was nothing to write home about with just too many mistakes and penalties given away by both sides.
The Lions had the better of the ball and possession throughout the match and should have put the Elephants away much earlier. Credit must go to De Villiers side who never gave up and stayed in the fight till the end.
The Lions showed what they were capable off in the final ten minutes and they would want to build on that and forget the rest of this game.
