The defending champions got off to a great start with a away win against the Force in Perth on Friday, beating them 27-11.
A true reflection of a great side the Brumbies absorbed the pressure the Force put on them early on. The Force was unlucky in a sense as they left a lot of points on the field and could have build a nice lead in that first half but just could not convert.
Ian Prior slotted the first points over with a penalty early on. The Brumbies had a try disallowed after a forward pass was picked up with the Force defence very good early on.
The Brumbies levelled the scores when a Noah Lolesio penalty and minutes later they found a hole in the Force defence through a great ball from Nic White.
That gave the visitors a 10-3 lead.
The Force was also denied a try in the first half when Thrush was judge picking up the ball in the ruck before he dived over the line.
Prior and Lolesio both got a penalty each before the break which gave the Brumbies a 13-6 lead at halftime.
The Brumbies had the better start to the second half. It was Ikitau and Simone working nicely together for their second try of the match.
Ikitau got the line break offloading to Simone to score. With the conversion over the Brumbies stretched their lead to 14 points.
Brumbies Slipper was show a yellow card for repeated infringements but the Force could not capitalise.
The Brumbies then had Banks being put into space who found Fines-Leleiwasa to go over. This gave the Brumbies a 27-6 lead with a few minutes to play.
The Force would finally get their reward when Tomas Cubelli got over. The try prevented the Brumbies form getting a bonus-point try.
