It was the Jordie Barrett show on Friday when the Hurricanes beat the Highlanders 30-19, with the All Black scoring all the Hurricanes points.
It was some poor decision making and mistakes that cost the Highlanders this one against a Hurricanes side that was hungrier for the win.
Barrett opened the scoring with a penalty before he scored the first try of the match finding a gab through the Highlanders defence.
This gave the visitors a good 10-0 lead. The Highlanders got Frizell over the line but after the TMO looked at it they decided that Fritzell loss the ball while trying to ground it.
The Hurricanes then saw Tyrel Lomax going to the bin. The Highlanders finally got over for their first try by Bryn Evans after sustain pressure on the Hurricanes in their own half.
With Ioane conversion over the lead of the Hurricanes was reduced to 10-7.
Just before halftime it was that man Barrett again with his second try of the match which gave the Hurricanes a great halftime lead of 17-7.
The Hurricanes was not just scoring the tries in that first half their defence was just plain brilliant at times which kept the home side from getting any other points on the board.
Back for the second half Barrett got his third try of the match and that took the visitors lead to 24-7 which left the home side with a massive task in the the second half.
The Highlanders got their second try through Garden-Bachop which brought them back into the game trailing the Hurricanes 27-12.
Time was running out for them though but they did manage another try before the end of the match with Umaga-Jensen going over.
This was not enough however as the Hurricanes and to put some extra salt on the wound, Barrett ended the game with another penalty to take the Hurricanes to a 30-19 win over the Highlanders.
