The Sharks were in control for longer periods in the game which the scoreboard reflects as well. The defence at the end would have been a disappointment for the visitors as they let the bonus point slipped.
The Sharks backline was on par again and within three minutes Springbok flyer Makazole Mapimpi went over after some brilliant play from the backs.
The Rebels responded well with Marika Koroibete getting their first try of the match, and with Deegan adding the extra two points they were level with the Sharks.
The Sharks got their noses in front again when Andre Esterhuizen powered over the line.
The Rebels kept things close with a penalty from Deegan at 12-10 but the Sharks closed the half well with first a penalty from Bosch then a try by Madosh Tambwe which gave the Sharks a 22-10 lead at the break.
The second half saw the Rebels with the better start, with the Sharks having to defend their line. Kerron Van Vuuren was send to the bin for a dangerous tackle and shortly after that Tambwe was also send to the bin.
This helped as the Rebels took full advantage of the extra men and got Isi Naisarani over to get another try for the home side.
This reduce the lead to only 22-17 playing against only 13 Sharks.
Mapimpi was again the man to got over for his second off the match to extend the 12 point lead again. He could have gotten his hat-trick a few minutes later but selflessly given the ball to Bosch to make it 26-17.
This secured the win for the Sharks but the Rebels got over again before the end to deny the Sharks a bonus point win when Rangi broke the defence.
