Match Report – Crusaders 33-13 Highlanders

As expected the Crusaders was just too strong from the Highlanders on Friday at home beating them 33-13

The Highlanders have not won against the champions for a long time and they will have to wait for another day after being outclassed.

This is not a good start for the Highlanders having won only 1 of their opening three matches. The New Zealand conference is always very competitive and loosing too many may just see you play pride the rest of the season.

With a lead of 26-8 the Crusaders had the game won in the first half already scoring four tries in the process. To come back from that is difficult but to do it against the Crusaders at home almost impossible.

Missing 21 of 61 tackles is just not on at this level and against a champions side you will get punished.

The game got a bit loose in the second half with the Highlanders having some opportunities but the quality was just not there.  The Highlanders got two tries from Michael Collins, Jona Nareki while the Crusaders tries came from Codie Taylor, Tom Christie, Braydon Ennor, George Bridge and Sione Havili.

Crusaders – Tries: Codie Taylor, Tom Christie, Braydon Ennor, George Bridge, Sione Havili. Conversions: David Havili (3).
Highlanders – Try: Michael Collins, Jona Nareki. Penalty: Josh Ioane.
