It seems we talk every week about how red cards for dangerous clean outs determine the outcome of the matches in the English Premiership and yet again Friday night Sale Sharks beat Exeter after a red card for Jack Yeandle in the 26 minute of the match.
Sale had still to work hard for the win but was good enough to take the win 25-20.over the reigning champions.
The game got off to a great start when Faf de Klerk showed his class with a perfect pass to McGuigan to get over with only 4 minutes on the clock.
Exeter replied with a brilliant try from Cordero who beat four defenders to go in under the sticks.
A penalty from MacGinty put Sale ahead on the scoreboard but Lonsdale try from the line out maul saw the visitors get their second try of the match.
Sale then saw their captain send off with a yellow card for a challenge in the air but the drama was not over.
A minute later Exeter captain,Yeandle was send off with a straight red card for a dangerous cleanup in the ruck. This red card for Yeandle was the sixth red card in the Premiership in the past seven days.
Sale through they have capitalised on the extra man when MacGinty got over but after the TMO came in, the try was overruled because their was a knock-on in the build-up to the try.
Sale would get that try just before the end of the half when Rodd got over the whitewash.
Sale discipline was not great in the second and gave three penalties away to give Exeter the opportunity to attack five meters out with a line out. It was Simmonds that got over for the champions.
MacGinty had a second try disallowed after there was obstruction from Wiese in the build-up.
With ten minutes left in the game, Langdon picked up a ball form the base of the mail and got over. MacGinty got a penalty over with five minutes left which left Exeter to chase the game.
Sale was able to keep a desperate Exeter team out in that final minutes to take a important win over the defending champions.
