A brilliant first half secured a runaway win for the Cheetahs on Saturday when they beat the Pumas 53-31.
The Cheetahs blew the Pumas off the field with brilliant handling from the backs in that first half.
At one stage we were looking at a cricket score coming but the Pumas never gave up and scored four tries to comeback somewhat in the second half.
At the end the Cheetahs was juts too good for the men from Nelspruit.
The Cheetahs had the perfect start and was able to get the ball going through the backs to get Malcolm Jaer over for the first try within tow minutes.
The Pumas answered with a penalty from Eddie Fouche to reduce the lead to only 7-3, but the Cheetahs quickly cancelled that with a penalty from Pienaar.
The Cheetahs had some good early touches as they broke the Pumas defence easily really.
The Cheetahs showed off their brilliant hands as they got Malcolm Jaer over for his second try of the match. It took not long for the home side to find space out wide again as they send Junior Pokomela over for his try
This gave the Cheetahs a 22-3 lead after just 17 minutes in the first half. The Cheetahs kept it going and were playing all the rugby in the Pumas twenty two which led to two quick tries from Specman.
This took the Cheetahs lead to 34-3 just before halftime.
There was still one more try in the Cheetahs before the break when Specman ran the perfect line and gave it to Pienaar to put it down.
That gave the Cheetahs a 41-3 lead at halftime.
The Cheetahs continue to dominate play with ball in hand and it took not long for them to get over after the break when William Small-Smith got over after again some great hands.
The Pumas finally got their first try after Pienaar made a mistake behind the scrum which Smuts took full advantage off to score the first try of the match for the visitors.
The Cheetahs hit the 50 mark when Jaer got over for his hat-trick try.
The Pumas created a great maul in the middle of the field which saw them drive over Daniel Maartens for their second try of the match.
This reduced the lead to 53-17.
The Pumas with and extra man after Louis van der Westhuizen was yellow carded for a dangerous tackle showed much better continuaty on attack and after a great build up send Le Roux Roets over.
They scored again a few minutes later when Maritz found his way over for the Pumas 4th try.
This was the last action of the match wit the Cheetahs winning 53-31.
