Heineken Champions Cup – La Rochelle win over Leinster makes it a all French Champions Cup final

It will be a French Champions Cup final in 2021 after La Rochelle beat four-time winners Leinster 32-23 on Sunday.

It was an impressive display from La Rochelle that saw them beat one of the favourites in the championship.

It was tries by Alldritt and Will Skelton in the final 15 minutes for the home side that saw them secure their place in the final.

It was not one of the best performances from the PRO14 champions. Their tries came from Tadhg Furlong and Ross Byrne but that was not enough on the day.

La Rochelle broke down Leinster which not many teams have been able to do in the last couple of years which give you an idea how good the French side was one the day.

Leinster started well on attack but was left frustrated. One could see that La Rochelle had some nerves going into the game. They conceded plenty of penalties in the first half and also saw Liebenberg send to the bin.

La Rochelle looked better composed for the rest of the half. The French side broke down Leinster as the game went one.

West was again one of the stars for the home side adding 22 points to his team score.

Alldritt scored the host first try of the match which put some space on the scoreboard. Skelton try sealed it for the home side as they advance to the final against Toulouse.

Leinster did score a late try by Ross Byrne but it was too little too late for the Irish side.
