As we expected in our preview this game could have gone either way although the Hurricanes was the favourites the Highlanders showed yet again why they so dangerous at home winning the derby 30-14.
It was almost as if they outlast the Hurricanes just playing them out of the game in the last twenty minutes.
There was not too much to pick from before the final twenty minutes.
The momentum changed throughout the match as we expected and their was enough action to keep us watching.
The result means the Highlanders retain their unbeaten home record in 2018 and they provisionally move into third place on the New Zealand Conferece table, five points adrift of the Hurricanes, who are still in second spot behind the Crusaders.
The Hurricanes seemed to be struggling of late and almost have the same problem as the Lions with their attacking game they play.
If you cannot back that up with your forwards for eighty minutes and good defence then you will loose against the quality teams.
The result is a surprise as the Highlanders have been struggling in recent weeks but they have firmly confirm that they are still in the race.
