Jake suggest SA rugby returning without Cheetahs and Kings

With rugby set to return in South Africa in September, everyone is looking to see what format SA Rugby will pick from to get the boys ready for the Rugby Championship.

There are a few ideas flouting around and Bulls Director of Rugby has said that it will be a SA Super Rugby competition to start with which will move into a Currie Cup competition.

It was said on social media that Jake White spilled the beans on the format.

It will be a double round of matches for the four Super Rugby franchises and the a single round of Currie Cup matches for the 8 Currie Cup sides.

According to White the Currie Cup will be played while the Springboks is in New Zealand in November and December for the Rugby Championship.

If this is in fact the way SA Rugby wants to structure the return of rugby in SA, it will mean that the Cheetahs and Southern Kings will only play Currie Cup in November and December.

In my mind the right way is to have Super Rugby SA with the Stormers, Bulls, Lions, Sharks and the Kings and Cheetahs and then move to Currie Cup.

Will have to wait and see what SA Rugby decide.
