The Lions got their second win over the Stormers this season on Saturday at Newlands when they beat the Cape side 26-23.
The game never really got going as both sides had their chances.
The Lions had to win to keep the distance between them and the Jaguares who has been on great form the last month.
Neither of the two teams could dominate the game for long periods which made it a stop-start affair.
The Stormers started well and put the Lions on the backfoot. It seems the Lions just cannot get good starts this season and have to fight back in every game.
A red card for Rhule change the game for the Stormers as they had to step it up a notch.
It was a brain-dead late charge from Rhule on Combrinck which cost his team.
Upfront neither team could really dominate.
There was some brilliant play from both sides at times. The problem for both sides were mistakes in critical times of the game.
The Lions left a few points on the park with some poor decision making and execution at times.
It was always going to be a tough game for both teams and at the end the Lions did just enough to deserve the win.
