The Emirates Lions are chasing some old hands to beef up their very young team for next years Super Rugby.
Former Sharks and Springbok prop Jannie Du Plessis has already join the Lions franchise after his contract came to an end with Montpellier.
With the news that Jannie will become a Lions, Sadie deal was also sealed with WP Rugby after being on loan last season to the Lions.
The Lions have also confirm that they are in talks with “The Bone Collector” Willem Alberts which will be a major signing of the franchise.
With the news that Warren Whiteley will be out for the season the Lions will have to look at strengthening their loos forward department.
I must say that I really enjoy seeing players coming back to SA. They bring so much experience with them which is great for young teams like the Lions.
This was clear to see with the Bulls last year when Brits, Vermeulen join the Pretoria outfit.
We have been missing that experience in our game here in South Africa with players moving to Europe very early and retire there as well.
To bring that experience back to the franchise will help the hole that is left with the exodus of players.
There are also some talks around that Frans Steyn is busy looking for a home, and it looks like it is between the Cheetahs and Lions that will get his signature.
