A huge blow for the British & Irish Lions as well as for George North after it was announced that he will not be going on the Lions tour to South Africa later this year.
He ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee on Saturday when he played for his club Ospreys in the first round of the Rainbow Cup.
The Lions squad to tour South Africa will be announced by Warren Gatland on the 6th May and a huge hole will be left with North injured.
Sport can be cruel. We all know the risks when we take the field. Unfortunately I ruptured my ACL on Saturday and will need surgery next week. Heartbroken is an understatement. 💔 pic.twitter.com/icNDEmYmHE

North was one of the stars for Wales in the Six Nations this year and impressed at inside centre where he was used.
It would have been his third Lions tour if he was selected after he formed part of the 2013 Lions to Australia and the tour to New Zealand.
We wish him a speeding recovery…
