We have been waiting for 6 months and finally Super Rugby is back in South Africa and it will be the Cell C Sharks and Emirates Lions kicking of the revamp competition, Vodacom Super Rugby Unlocked.
The past two weeks we have seen the players starting to get back on the field and although it maybe was not the greatest matches we know that it can only get better from here.
The Sharks was one of the front runners in this years Super Rugby competition before the pandemic stop all sports all over the world and with more of their big guns back we expect a great match come Friday night in Durban.
The Lions side is in a rebuilding phase but one must not under estimate this young group of players as they have enough experience players throughout their squad to shape these youngsters during this competition.
It is going to be a massive battle upfront and we know that most teams will concentrate to go with the basics as the season restart until they get to full match fitness.
The Sharks will go into the match as favorites but that counts for nothing in the 80 minutes that lies ahead for these two teams.
The Lions will have to be stand up against a good tight five from the Sharks if they want to have any say in this match. As we know by now, it all start with what happens in the set pieces and without ball your backs can not score tries.
The Sharks have big men in Ox Nche and Thomas du Toit in their front row which will make it difficult for the likes of Carlu Sadie, Jaco Visagie and Sti Sithole.
Going to the back we are excited to see the match up between Elton Jantjies and Curwin Bosch. With Pollard injured, all the flyhalfs are gunning for that Springbok number 10 jumper at the moment.
Both teams have great speedsters out wide and solid midfield which makes this and exciting match to look forward too.
The battle of the loosies will also be one to watch out for. James Venter and Sikhumbuzo Notshe will have their hands full with Jaco Kriel and Vincent Tshituka.
As always it is difficult to call these games in the beginning of the competition so you are all on your own picking your SuperBru for this weekend.
If we have to make a call maybe one will go for the home side.
The game will be live on SuperSport Friday at 19:00
