Match Preview – Emirates Lions v Vodacom Bulls

The high-flying Vodacom Bulls will travel this week to Johannesburg to face the Emirates Lions.

The Bulls have been the inform team with the Cheetahs so far in the early stages of the Vodacom Super Rugby Unlocked competition and this weekend is a new challenge for Jake White players.

The Lions registered their first win last week at home against Griquas but this week will be a much tougher challenge for them.

The Bulls swept the Stormers away last week at Loftus and even with the game not even being played for the full eighty minutes due to lightning late in the second half.

The Bulls have a great balanced side and have been a force in every game with their pack and we believe they will go at the Lions pack as well this weekend.

Morne Steyn have been a key for the Bulls so far and his control of the game has been very good and he is playing his best rugby we have seen for a long time.

He will come up against World Cup winner Elton Jantjies who has also had a brilliant start to the competition.

This will be a key battle in the match as both has an educational boot but more than that they are able to get the best out of their backs.

Burger Odendaal, a former Bulls is the only change to the Lions side for this weekend. He will partner with Simelane for this weekend.

On the bench we see Nathan McBeth and Dan Kriel with PJ Botha, Ruan Dreyer, Reinhard Nothnagel, Marnus Schoeman, Ross Cronje and Tiaan Swanepoel.

For the Bulls, Walt Steenkamp will make his debut in the second row this weekend. He takes the place of Nortje who are being rested this week.

This is also the only change for the the Bulls for this match.

The Lions will have to take the Bulls on in the set pieces if they want to take the win. The Bulls foundation is their pack and if they dominate like they did against the Sharks and Stormers then it will be a long afternoon for the Lions.

Prediction: We go with Bulls by 13
