Match Preview – Tafel Lager Griquas v DHL Stormers

Griquas will be hosting the Stormers this weekend in Kimberley. Griquas has not won a game yet in the competition.

The Stormers have not been great either although they have won two matches so far out of the three they played. The Stormers had a difficult start so far which did not help with the fact that they have had a few key injuries to content too.

For the home side Ederies Arendse will make his 100th appearance this weekend.

With George Whitehead benched Zak Burger will lead the Griquas team against the Stormers this weekend. Tinus de Beer will start inplace of Whitehead this weekend.

We also see Eduan Keyter coming in from the wing to the midfield with Basson making his return in the Griquas jumper on the wing.

Eduan Keyter and Johnathan Francke will make up the midfield for the weekend.

There is only one change in the pack with Mxoli getting the start over Beerwinkel who move to the bench.
It will be a big moment for Springbok Steven Kitshoff who will make his 100th Stormers appearance.
He made his debut as a 19-year-old against the Chiefs back in 2011. He will lead the Stormers in the absence of the injured Siya Kolisi.

Dobson made three changes in the pack which sees Fouche at tighthead, Meihuizen at lock and Theunissen on the side of the scrum.

In the backs de Wet comes in for Jantjies and the exciting Angelo Davids will make his debut.

On the bench we see Springboks Ntubeni and Malherbe with Ruhan Nel back after an injury layoff.

With the inconsistency of the Stormers so far in the competition no one can predict how this will go. They struggled in almost every department against the Bulls last weekend and they will know the Griquas at home will come at them hard.

The smaller franchise has always something to proof when they play the big five and this match will be no different.

One think most Stormers fans will hope for is that their is some kind of gameplan this weekend that the team will play against Griquas.

They looked like a team with no plan against the Bulls and hoping for mistakes to counter attack as their only plan.

They will need to step up with the pack in the set pieces. This has not been great and it is really time that Willemse showed that he should be in the number 10 jumper.

This will be a great test for Dobson troops and they can use this game to restart their season and get back on track, the question is will they?

Prediction: Stormers should win this by 10, but we know that these days when it comes to the Stormers you should expect the unexpected.
