The Blues started their campaign with a great win over the Hurricanes on Sunday beating them 30-20. They were the better side on the day and played some great rugby in front off a packed stadium in Auckland.
It was a tight affair in the first half but the boot off Black was the difference in the second half as he punished the Hurricanes who gave away too many penalties.
As it was with Saturday’s game, both sides trying to run the ball at every opportunity.
It was the Hurricanes through Garden-Bachop that got the first points on the board with a penalty to take a 3-0 lead.
This was sort lived as Eden Park erupted when Clarke scored the first try of the match. This after Ioane broke through the defence to send Clarke over.

This gave the Blues a 7-3 lead.
The Hurricanes hit back with a brilliant try from Coles sprinting down the line to score in the corner after an overlap was created by the visitors.

The handed the lead back to the Hurricanes 8-7.
The tries kept coming with the Blues getting their second of the match through Faiane.This after some brilliant hands from Barrett and Telea in the lead-up.
This gave the Blues a 14-8 lead.
The Hurricanes messed up an opportunity with some poor passing but from an attacking scrum they manage to get the ball out wide quickly to Lam to get over in the corner.
This reduced the lead to 14-13 which was the score the two teams went into the break.
The second half started with the Blues with ball in hand trying to put some distance on the scoreboard but the Hurricanes defence was good enough to keep them out.
It was the Blues that scored first in the second half and it was a brilliant one at that as well.
It was a brilliant waiting kick through by Faiane that given Papalii the pickup and the try to extend the home side lead to 21-13.
Black extended the lead moments later with two penalty in a row to take the Blues lead to 27-13.
The Hurricanes kept on making mistakes under pressure and Black was happy to punish them with the penalties. He extended the lead with another to 30-13 with 13 minutes to go.
The Hurricanes tried in the final 15 minutes to get back in the game but poor handling and specially poor lineouts just took all the opportunities away.
The Hurricanes eventually got over with minutes to go when Jamie Booth got over the line to make it a 10 point game.
That was the last score off the game as the Blues took the win 30-20 over the Hurricanes.
