It was always going to be closed and it proofs to be small magrin that separated the the Crusaders and the Chiefs in Sundays match.
The Crusaders got their second win by beating the Chiefs 18-13.
It was a wet field which saw both teams making plenty off handling errors with both teams trying to give the ball air from start to finish.
Richie Mo’unga opened the scoring for the homes side to give them a 3-0 lead.
Damian McKenzie even things up again at 3-all with a penalty off his own as the teams struggled to get phases together.
The home side got the first try from a mistake by McKenzie mistiming his jump for a high ball. The ball fell in the hands off Reece who got through a gap to send Will Jordan over.
This gave the Saders a 10-3 lead. This was also the halftime score.
The Crusaders extended their lead catching the Chiefs napping after the ball went into touch. A quick throw by Reece to Jordan burst through for his second try of the match.
This gave the Crusaders a 15-3 lead. This was extended later on when Richie Mo’unga got another penalty over for the home side.
The Chiefs had to score next and they did just that. From a lineout the ball went out to Sean Wainui who got over for the Chiefs first try.
This reduced the score to 18-10. The Chiefs got another penalty over to reduce the score again to 18-13.
They tried to get that last minute try but the Crusaders defence was on par and kept them out to secure the win and send the Chiefs back home with their third loss on the trod.
