A strong first half secured a win for the DHL Stormers at Loftus against the Lions on Saturday.
The Stormers used their forwards to put early pressure on the Lions and although the Lions scored first it was the Stormers that had the better of ball in hand.
The Lions were on the front foot early on when they got a penalty from the kick-off and kept the Stormers pin in their twenty two.
After a few phases and some hard hitting from the Stormers on defence it was Jantjies with a cross-kick that send Skosan over for the first try and a 7-0 lead for the Lions.
The Stormers scrum dominated from the scrum and from a great scrum five meters out Willemse put the perfect pass to Du Plessis who ran in the gab for the Stormers first try and the lead of 10-7
Gelant in his first game for the Stormers, looked really good and showed his speed, step and kicking ability early on.
The Stormers where camping on the Lions line and penalty after penalty saw the Lions loose Orie to the bin and Scarra going over for the Stormers second try from the drive.
This gave the Stormers the lead of 15-7.
The Lions showed some better handling on attack but from a turnover the Stormers started to run from their own half and with great hands they eventually send Kolisi over for the try and a 20-7 lead at the break.
