Wellington got their second straight win when they beat Bay of Plenty on Friday 32-10.
Kirifi was again the star of the Wellington side. He popped up everywhere and inspired his side. Peter Umaga-Jensen was also a threat in the midfield.
Bay was first to score when Nathan Vella ran 15 meters almost untouched to run in the first try.
With the upper hand with their pack Wellington were very frustrated in the opening stanza.
Kirifi was the man that lifted his players and it was finally Goosen who weaved through to see Ben-Nicholas getting over from a ruck.
Even though Bay had a better penalty count, Hollinshead missed twice which could have given them the lead going into the break, but instead it was Wellington that somehow led 12-10.
They scored first in the second when Goosen was at the end of some clever kick and quick ball to create an overlap.
Ben-Nicolas had a second when he went over in the 46th minutes.
At the end it was Thompson and his captain that delivered. Tyrone Thompson scored a breathtaking try after combining with his captain Du’Plessis Kirifi.
