The Bulls will be playing the Sunwolves this weekend in Singapore as they return to Super Rugby action.

Springbok flyhalf Handre Pollard will be leading the side this weekend as Burger Odendaal is out due to injury.

The Bulls have some players returning in Jamba Ulengo, Hanro Liebenberg and Jannes Kirsten

Kriel and Kotze will make up the midfield as Papier and Pollard will run out as 9 and 10.

Bulls coach John Mitchell has welcomed the return to Super Rugby after the international break.

It is great to be back playing in the tournament again. We had a good break, but also had some time together to sort out elements in our play that lacked consistency,” he said.

“The Sunwolves are always dangerous, especially on home turf and we will have to be very principled in our approach and execution if we want to stay in the contest,” said Mitchell.

Kick-off is at 13:35 (SA time).

  1. Interesting to see how this side gels, whether Hanro can make it through 50mins unscathed and why bar a few players the bench is so average.

  2. @bryce_in_oz: yeah a nothing bench that will add nothing. Maruthule looked good at the Kings, but haven’t played a lot of SuperRugby at the Bulls and everyone raves about Libbok, but I’m yet to see what the hype is about.

That is without even mentioning the problem we have at tighthead.

  3. @Aldo:

At least Schoeman is back he is a beast. Trevor obviously ‘still’ not match fit and eating all the pies in the Bok camp…

  4. @bryce_in_oz: problem isn’t at loose head. Both Schoeman and Lizo are good enough, although I don’t know what we’re going to do next year with Schoeman gone.

We have a real issue at tighthead. Trevor was pretty good this season, but other than him we have nothing. Was hoping for Koch but that’s not going to happen and then I see we are trying to buy Duane Vermeulen. We don’t need loose forwards, we need props.

  5. @Aldo:

Definitely… why get in a bidding war with Bath when you can coax back MArcell VDM who is playing excellent rugby at Toulon and is still only around 27 and poach another promising youngster.

  6. @Craven: They are looking at him. Only tighthead that I can find that we are looking at buying. He isn’t that great but a lot better than any tighthead we have at the moment. Trevor seems to have found some form this year, but we have zero after him.

  7. @cab:

Too weak in the tackle… pass not flash… no eye for a break. You want a POC half-back… at least for all his faults Paige has a quick pass. Neither are test quality along with Van Zyl.

Reinach has been playing some exceptional rugby for the Saints and like Faf even been kicking for posts.

Ruan Pienaar still a game-changer where ever he goes…
