Preview – EP Elephants v Tafel Lager Griquas

This should be a highly entertaining matchup in PE on Wednesday when the Elephants host Griquas.

Most people will have Griquas as favourites to win this one but if last weeks match between the Elephants and Lions is anything to go on, then we should expect a great fight at least from the men from PE.

Not many people would have given them any hope to stay with the Lions the way they did last week after they were well beaten by the Bulls in the first match, but if De Villiers can find a way to keep improving his side we can expect another exciting one on Wednesday.

Griquas was unlucky against the Stormers last week not to pull that one through. This week their opponents may not be as strong as the Stormers or Sharks but they will fight you till the end.

The key for the Elephants will be to get their set pieces right and make this a spectacle but with De Villiers as coach we do expect them to grow each week they get to play at this level.

Griquas will surely target the scrums and line outs to build momentum, so if the Elephants can find a way to compete here, then this match will be contested for the full 80 minutes.

The Elephants have a few changes to their side due to injuries, fatigue and fitness according to their coach.

The captaincy will go again to Winnaar but he will play from the number ten jumper this week, this brings Keanu Vers in the fullback position this week with Gora that will partner his captain at halfback.

There was also a few injuries which force De Villiers hand in selection this week. Nzuzo, Kleyn, Velleman are all out due to injury.

They will be replaced by Marzuq Maarman, Mncedisi Dlwengu and Diego Williams.

Griquas will be without their regular captain Whitehead who is injured and his place will be taken by Tinus de Beer. Visser will be coming in at tighthead and Coetzee replacing Zito in the second row.

We also see Van der Merwe on the side of the scrum which means Carl Els will pack down at number eight.

Stefan Ungerer will captain the side for the number nine jumper tis week in the absence of Whitehead.

You can make yourself ready for a entertaining match on Wednesday. Now if only the Elephants can keep all the players on the field this week, then maybe they can cause an upset.
