IOL has reported that Springbok centre Rohan Janse van Rensburg may be returning to the Lions setup as early as next week after his knee operation.

The Springbok centre has been given the all clear to play from his medical staff and just need to get his conditioning back in shape before running out for the Lions again.

Jansen van Rensburg has been one of the inform number 12’s in the country before his injury and will want to get back on the field to fight for his place not just in the Lions side but also in the Springbok setup.

Meanwhile, Lions team doctor Rob Collins said no one was to blame for Warren Whiteley’s recent injury, which saw him suffer a torn ligament in his pelvis.

‘It’s obviously been worn for a while and now it’s torn. It’s really unfortunate, but no one is to blame, nobody did anything wrong,’ Collins told The Star newspaper.

‘The good news is Warren is excellent when it comes to rehabilitation work. He’s one of the most professional guys I’ve dealt with regarding this sort of thing, so, if all goes well, he’ll be back before eight weeks.’

  1. RJVR and Serfontein would make an interesting combination… Serfotein running angles off RJVR’s breaks would be awesome…

  2. That would make for an interesting centre combo. I’m just glad serfontein is finally back to his best. Or close to it

  3. Yip these 2 will be a handful with combrink on the wing, and choice of JLDP and PSDT with Kriel and kolisi and cloete – this could be tasty AB beating indeed
