Ireland’s Peter O’Mahony has been given a three week ban for the dangerous clean out in Sunday Six Nation test against Wales.
He will now miss the test matches against France, Italy and Scotland but will be able to return for the final weekends match against England.
He was given a red card on Sunday by referee Wayne Barnes after a review from the TMO saw him hit Tomas Francis with the shoulder in the head at a ruck.
This surely a match decider at the end as Wales beat Ireland 21-16 at the end. The incident happened in the 14th minute meaning Ireland had to play with 14-men for more than three-quarters of the test match.
O’Mahony got a 50% reduction in the six week suspension due t is previous disciplinary record.
