Another brilliant game from the defending Super Rugby Aotearoa champions, the Crusaders on Sunday when they beat the Hurricanes 33-16.
The champions was simply just too good for the Hurricanes scoring five tries to two on the night.
Jordie Barrett got things going on the scoreboard when he kicked the first points over. He extended the Hurricanes lead to 6-0 with another before Ardie Savea was send to the bin for collapsing a Crusaders maul.
With only 14-men it was always going to be difficult to keep a side like the Crusaders out and it was Taylor that got over for the first try of the match.
A second followed shortly with Mo’unga getting over to give the home side a 14-6 lead. Two in a row became three in a row when Blackadder scored another.
The Crusaders had their bonus point wrapped up before halftime with another try by Scott Barrett this time to make it 26-6.
Their dominance continued in the second half as Taylor got over again for the home side making it 33-6 but this was the last points for the Saders.
Credit to the Hurricanes who defended well in that second half and they were rewarded with a try by Ricky Riccitelli who broke off a rolling maul.
Umaga-Jensen was next to score for the visitors and well deserved as they came hard at the Crusaders, but still gave the Crusaders a bonus point win.
Crusaders: Tries – Codie Taylor (2), Richie Mo’unga, Ethan Blackadder, Scott Barrett. Conversions – Mo’unga (4).
Hurricanes: Tries: Ricky Riccitelli, Peter Umaga-Jensen. Penalties – Jordie Barrett (2).
