Super Rugby AU Wrap – Brumbies stay unbeaten as Rebels win in super time against Force


It was too close games this weekend in Super Rugby AU when the Brumbies stayed unbeaten against the Reds on Saturday and the Rebels snatch the win against the Force in Super Time on Friday.

The Rebels has handed the Force their 4th loss on the trod when they beat them 25-20 on Friday.

It was a try from Naisaranie in Super Time that sealed the win for the Rebels, 25-20.

This was another cruel loss for the Force who worked hard to end the game at 20-all after 80 minutes.

The Rebels started stronger but after a lengthy stoppage after Ferris sustained a neck injury, it was the Force that got the first points through a penalty by Lance.

They dominated play and where looking the better side on the field.

They also got the first try when Lee-Warner got over from a driving maul. This gave them a 10-0 lead but that was cancelled out with a try by Rebels Uelese and a long distance kick by Hodge to level things at the break.

The second half was a error ridden as both sides just made too many errors.

It was the Rebels Toomua that got the first points in the half with a penalty before the Force Ralston scored a converted try.

The Rebels hit back with a try by Philip and with the conversion from Toomua and Lance penalty, ended the game on 20-all sending the match into Super Time.

It was Rebels Naisarani who became the hero when he scored the final try off the match and the win for his side.

Brumbies Brumbies 22 20 Reds Reds

The Brumbies kept their unbeaten run in tack when they beat the Reds 22-20 with a last minute penalty on Saturday.

It seems the Brumbies are making a habit in snatching wins in the final minutes off matches.

The Brumbies had the better start and with Fainga’a try was leading at the break The Reds only response was a penalty from O’Conner.

It was a much better second half start for the Reds with both Wilson and Scott-Young getting over for tries. With a penalty added by O’Connor the Reds had a handy lead and all to do for the Brumbies.

With 10 minutes left the Brumbies came back at the Reds with a try by McInerney and a penalty by Hansen to turn it around for them.

Heartbreak for the Reds but joy for the Brumbies
