The Vodacom Bulls beat the Pumas on Saturday 21-5 to secure the win and become the first winners of the Vodacom Super Rugby Unlocked competition.
It was not one of their best matches but they did enough to secure the win.
The Bulls quickly set the pace with their forwards putting the Pumas on the back foot.
It was the Bulls that put the first points on the board with a try by Arendse which Smith converted to take an early 7-0 lead in the match.
It took not long for the Bulls to extend their lead with again some dominate play from their forwards that saw Smith going over for the second try.
Van Zyl was the third man over for the Bulls which looked like the Pumas was in for a long afternoon at Loftus. Although the Bulls kept dominating the game they were unable to add to their score and went into the break with a 21-0 lead.
The Pumas got a few penalties and got a few chances inside the Bulls twenty two and one of them they were able to convert when HP van Schoor was at the end of a drive.
This reduce the Bulls lead to 21-5.
The Pumas played much better in the second half with the Bulls almost looking like they were happy to defend their lead.
The Pumas were able to contest the breakdowns better as well as the Bulls lineouts which gave them more ball to play with. They looked like the better team on attack leaving the Bulls to defend most of the time.
At the end the Bulls did enough in the first half to secure the win and well deserve Champions of the Vodacom Super Rugby Unlocked loosing only one of their matches.
