Wellington get bonus point away win against Auckland


Wellington Lions turned around the poor showing of last week in Hamilton to put a brilliant performance together and beat the Auckland 39-21.

It is one thing to beat the Auckland side and a total different thing to beat them in their own back yard.

Wellington ran in six tries to the three of Auckland to secure a bonus point away win.

TJ Perenara was the heart of the attacking play for Wellington.

He was the major factor to turnaround a 7-0 deficit into a 22-7 lead.

Wellington had the better of Auckland upfront as they never got their backline going.

Caleb Clarke was about the only one that stood out for Auckland in the backs.

Auckland scored first with Apisai that got over from a lineout-drive.

Wellington then ran in four tries from Aso, Goosen,Umaga-Jensen and Proctor.

Auckland scored through Ruru just before halftime but Wellington Pepesana Patafilo got over to extend their lead again.

Auckland scored first in the second half with Clark powering over but Garden-Bachop penlaty extended the lead again to 11 points. Minutes later Aso sealed the deal with seven minutes remaining.
